THEODORE ATTICUS TONKS
[/center]
INTRODUCTIONS
FULL NAME: Theodore Atticus Tonks
NICKNAMES: Teddy, Ted
AGE: Seventeen
ALLEGIANCE: The Order, eventually.
YEAR GROUP: Sixth Year, Hufflepuff
SKIN DEEP
DESIRED PB: Chris Hemsworth
HEIGHT: 6'4"
KEY FEATURES: His perpetual scruffy beard, glorious golden locks, hairy arms.
DESCRIPTION: Teddy is a big guy. He's built like a small house, barrel chested and covered in hair. Ted's little sister is convinced he's actually part bear, and this is a pretty apt description, so long as that bear is blonde. He wears his hair long, often tied back when he is baking or in class. Teddy's considered to be rather attractive, a fact which amuses and bemuses him. He's just a bloke who gets a five-o-clock shadow two hours after shaving with great hair.
Teddy lumbers about and is often slouching with his hands in his pockets. He finds his uniform stuffy, uncomfortable, and extremely uncool. Ties are terrible and they should all be burned. He much prefers muggle clothing, especially his leather (from cows, not dragons, you weirdos) jacket, his denim jeans, plaid shirts, turtle necks... Teddy's a pretty sharp dresser.
PERSONALITY
LIKES:
` Pastries
` Cupcakes
` Baking
` Bread
` Everything delicious
` Football
` Motorbikes, especially his old man's Triumph T 150 V 750
` Cinnamon
` Dogs. His dad has a Mastiff that hangs around the bakery.
` Mead
` Music; his dad always has music going in the kitchen. Teddy especially like The Carpenters, David Bowie, Art Garfnkel, Supertramp, Bad Company, Genesis, and more recently, Blue Oyster Cult.
` Potions: It's kind of like baking, but less awesome.
`
DISLIKES:
` The Dungeons
` Spicy food
` Cats, as he's rather allergic
` Owls, he's been clawed several times now
` Hogwarts, in a sense. He doesn't like the secrecy that comes with being a muggleborn and hates abandoning the "real world" for such lengthy stretches.
` Celestina Warbeck
` Quidditch ; Ted doesn't get it, and doesn't trust broomsticks
` Hats
` Floo powder
` Ties
STRENGTHS:
` Baking! Ted's learned from the best.
` Potions
` Diplomacy; Ted is just and fair minded. Like many Hufflepuffs, Ted knows how to keep the peace.
` Manners! Teddy's mum raised him right.
WEAKNESSES:
` Fresh baked bread. He can never resist
` Mellow: Teddy can be a bit too passive sometimes. He forgives, even when he shouldn't, and doesn't exactly leap to his own defence. Too much effort.
` Certain girls that are way out of his league.
` Transfiguration: It makes no goddamn sense.
BOGGART: Losing himself. Ted's a bit reluctant to be a wizard. It's made his family dynamic rather awkward. He doesn't really fit into either world, and he dreads having to make a choice between them.
PATRONUS: Rather amusingly, a bear. Teddy's patronus is as big and lumbering as he is, and certainly rather fearsome. It's as if his patronus has all of his aggression. Teddy's happiest memory is learning how to make bread with his parents. The warmth of the kitchen, the music playing over the radio, the smell of bread in the oven... perfection.
DESCRIPTION: Mellow, affable, and genuine, Ted is a well-liked guy. Humorous and easygoing, he makes friends just about everywhere he goes. Ted is good-natured and very slow to anger. He isn't a doormat, but he doesn't really care if people don't like him or have nasty things to say about his parentage. Ted doesn't see the point in getting up in arms about the conflict, as getting angry isn't going to change the blood elitists views. Why bother?
Ted is a very relaxed bloke, some might even call him lazy. He appreciates the finer things in life, sleep being one of them. He doesn't always get things like homework done on time, and is almost unconcerned with his grades beyond passing. He doesn't feel like he belongs in the wizarding world, and has plans to simply use his magic occasionally to help him at his father's bakery upon graduation.
Loyal, fair-minded, honest and kind, Ted is all that is good about his house. He tends to look after his younger housemates, as other houses don't always treat Hufflepuffs with the respect they deserve. One of the few ways to piss Ted off is to insult or prey on lower classmen, as he finds it incredibly unfair and cruel.

BIOGRAPHY: Ted's parents, Thomas and Dorothy, met in culinary school in Paris. It was a rivalmance at first sight, one that culminated in marriage shortly after graduation. They settled down in Ted's home village of Frimley Green, helping improve Crumbs Company. Thomas inherited the bakery from his father when he retired, and shortly afterwards Teddy was born.
No one suspected Teddy was magically inclined until his eleventh birthday, where he managed to explode several dozen loafs of bread in frustration. A visit from Professor McGonagall came shortly thereafter, and she explained to the Tonks' that, yes, their son was a wizard and that he could come to Hogwarts.
Ted was severely put out, wanting to stay at home. Professor McGonagall, however, had convinced his parents of the necessity of training him as a wizard and got on board with the Hogwarts plan rather enthusiastically.
Teddy missed the birth of his younger brother and sister during his ride to Hogwarts. Despite his bad mood, the hat put him in Hufflepuff, whispering that he could do great good with the badgers.
Teddy never did exceptionally well or poorly in his classes. He never failed a class, but never tried to pull amazing marks, either, barring potions. Potions was similar enough to cooking, to baking, that Teddy took a fair amount of joy in it. His Hogwarts days were greatly improved by the gift of a small oven and workspace in the kitchens from Professor Sprout after his career counselling in fifth year.
Teddy has a wide group of friends and is rather popular. His easy going nature and habit of bringing fresh baked goods to class have won over many. Along the way, Ted has achieved the so-called impossible and befriended his potions partner, the ever lovely Andromeda Black. Ted has kept his flame for the middle Black quiet and isn't sure he can muster up the will to ask her to choose between him and family. So he makes her little cakes and tries to make her laugh in potions, and can only hope that is enough.
SAMPLE POST: 23rd September, 1976. Thursday Evening.
The past week had felt rather like a dream to Teddy. He'd been roughly awoken the morning of the 16th by Amos Diggory, who was garbed in a golden toga and looking panicked. Teddy had tried to ignore Amos, as he was fantastically drunk, Teddy was tired, but his mate had been insistent. Something about a fight, an attack maybe, and someone was missing. Gamp was missing.
That had certainly gotten Teddy's attention. He'd reluctantly peeled out of his bed, rubbing sleep out of his eyes and feeling rather like a corpse. Amos had simply shoved a shirt and pants at him, looking more grim than Teddy had ever seen him in six years of friendship. Teddy had dressed and followed his mate. Not just his mate, Teddy had realised, but all of Hufflepuff House. And not just his house, but the whole bloody school had gathered in the Great Hall at an obscene hour of morning. The atmosphere had been unbearably tense, and Teddy had been rather shocked at the Headmaster's announcement.
That feeling of shock hadn't eased much in the past week. There was no hide nor hair of Gamp, and all of Hufflepuff house had banded together, never leaving one of their kind alone for more than a moment. Teddy had been at the head of that movement, walking lower classmen to their lessons, keeping count of them and his hand near his wand. It'd been rather exhausting, dashing across the castle to make his own lessons after ensuring his charges safe arrival, and Teddy was late to almost every class that week.
That was how Teddy had ended up in detention. He didn't blame Professor Slughorn, Teddy had forced his hand after all, but it certainly wasn't a pleasant affair. Amos had offered to accompany Teddy rather generously, but as Hufflepuff couldn't afford another loss in Quidditch, Teddy declined the offer. Jordan would surely flay Amos if he were late to practise, and he didn't particularly fancy the idea of Amos parting with his skin. They'd parted ways at the Great Hall cheerily enough. Teddy could sense apprehension on Diggory's part, not wanting to leave a mate alone to the castle, and parted before he could change his mind and ditch Quidditch practise.
The castle was chillier than usual as Teddy entered the Trophy Room. A small pile of supplies sat in the corner, awaiting use. The sheer size of the room was startling. He'd never found his way to this room, having little interest in the history of Hogwarts. Teddy began to seriously doubt he was capable of cleaning this much silver and gold before hexing his brains out.
Teddy sighed and rolled up his sleeves of his plaid shirt, unbuttoning several buttons and discarding his jumper in a corner. Pulling his blonde hair back into a pony tail, he pulled a trophy at random and settled down to clean.
