September 23rd, Thursday, Late At Night
To say Severus was livid would have been an understatement. The whole thing had somehow managed to go tits and he had more than one person to blame for this fiasco. The head of the animal was Rabastan Lestrange. He was truly no Rodolphus. The fool had sat by and let Amycus P. Carrow run the show as it were. It was like letting a lunatic run the asylum. The families reputation alone would garner him being no where near this assignment. There was no off button for this one and that was needed in this situation which was why the girl was dead.
His sister Alecto was no better and it was quite obvious either she couldn’t control him or thought what he did a good idea. Two nutcases on a delicate mission and it all went to hell. What was Rabastan thinking with these two. Giving them free reign. She was as insane as her brother and her lack of sanity in this case made him doubt her worthiness to be a Death Eater. It was one thing to kill it was another to mutilate beyond resuscitation.
Lastly the tail, no pun intended, was the only one to do her job. That being Grimm. The thought of her being the only one with brains almost made him sick when he had heard first hand . A…thing surpassing purebloods was unthinkable. Not that he could talk being a half blood but that was palatable to what she was. Until now. To him anyway.
Lucius no doubt would spin this to his advantage and get off with little if no punishment. He himself wasn’t involved and he was thankful for it. Lestrange he had a feeling would catch hell when the Dark Lord got his hands on him. The Carrow’s would probably enjoy any punishment they got so their punishment was a mystery to him. The only one who could go without fear was Grimm and he doubted she’d get credit for her exceptional work amidst their stupidity.
Severus had been trying to recruit and he had fear this would not help. No one wanted to be in an organization that if caught could wind them up in Azkaban. Then again no one wanted to be surrounded by people who killed just for sport. Well most anyway. He thankfully had managed one or two possibly and they would be initiated soon with the Dark Lords approval.
Severus was sat in the common room, everyone long since gone to bed, seething. Sure the incident was long past but the punishment had yet to be dealt out. He could feel the subconscious itch of his marked arm and wondered what the Dark Lord was thinking on the matter. What he had planned for the four. He honestly didn’t care as long as he was left out of it.
Severus took out a Black Russian cigarette and with his wand lit it. He didn’t care at this point if he would get into trouble. He doubted he would. Slughorn was off on one of his butt kissing missions and everyone else was in bed or knew not to cross him. He had acquired a few packs from one of his recruits. It calmed his nerves somewhat.
He stared into the dying fire, “Surrounded by imbeciles.” he said exhaling the smoke.
Lounging on the sofa he waved his hand and the fire roared to life once again.
He turned to watch the giant squid swim by.
{Didn’t know if smoking was allowed. If it isn’t I’ll remove it.}
